ZOMBIE (unicorn) Prom
This will be our 2nd themed book club- but don't let the "book club" title fool you. This is going to be AMAZING! True, we will be basing it on the book, "Zombies vs. Unicorns" by: Holly Black and Justine Larbalestier, and you WILL win Jeopardy if you've read the book, but there will also be various fun activities with which to occupy yourselves. Plus, you have to pick your team. I know in the past it may have been easy- Teem Peeta or Team Gale, Team Jacob or Team Edward to name a few, but I promise you, it will be much harder to choose a team in this case. Dress up as your choice, and there will be a costume competition for your Zombie and Unicorn based prom attire. You will also be able to make duct tape corsages and boutonnieres for your friends or dates. There will be snacks and you should bring your Friends. Please let the library know if you plan to come, and how many friends you plan to bring along.
Zombie Prom Committee
Zombie Prom Committee
This is a planning and decorating meeting for the Zombie/ Unicorn Prom. Bring $2 and a tshirt if you want to make a ridiculously awesome and festive shirt. National Honors Society hours honored.
February Craft Meeting
Get Down With Yo' Crafty selves
This is an event where teens can make a craft from library provided supplies, eat snacks and hang out with friends. Awesomeness guaranteed. This month we will be making something fun and functional out of old magazines.
Date: Wednesday, February, 16th
Time: 3:00 pm
Place: Pine Branch Library (inside the school library)
Hope to see you there!
February TAB Meeting
February Teen Advisory Board
This month's will be (drumroll, please) held on:
Date: Wednesday, February 9th
Time: 3:30 pm
Place: Northern Tier Library, in the basement, in front of the fireplace
For those of you who don't know, Teen Advisory Board is a chance for teens to offer input at their library, plan programs, talk about all types of media and just have fun. National Honor Society volunteer hour credit is given for attending.
Teen Advisory Board
Thanks to all who came out for TAB last Wednesday. Because a lot of you couldn't make it due to the snow, I am posting what we went over on here.
January Teen Advisory Board
Upcoming Events:
January 19th- Stick It! Stick It is January’s craft program. The craft we will be making is a duct tape bouquet. It will be held in the Pine Branch Library inside the high school library at 3pm. Crafts and snacks will be provided.
January 28th- YouTube Night. Make sure to make a list of clips you want to show. Since TAB is rated PG-13, clips must share the same rating.
Up for Discussion:
The library is working with the RichMar Rotary Club on a program called Pennies for Peace. They will match any donations up to 15,000- so there is the potential to raise 30,000. There is a box in the lobby for any donations you, or your friends and family can provide. All of the proceeds from the box go to Afghanistan and Pakistan to fund schools.
We have a few event openings for February. We are due for another book club. At the first meeting you voted for the second book to be Zombies Vs. Unicorns. So, we will be having a Zombie prom.
We will also have another craft program at the high school. The crafts have changed a little bit. Now instead of knitting, there will be a different craft at each meeting and supplies will be provided. Of course, there will always be a Teen Advisory Board meeting. Any further events are up for discussion, and I would LOVE suggestions!!!
building of schools in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
You Tube night is on same night as John Green. Many of the teens want to go to the show and would choose it over youtube night. I also have tickets to the show, but that’s not as huge of a deal for me. I have 4 ideas. A) keep it as it is. B) put it up for vote at TAB
C) Move it earlier so that those that want to go can continue to the show from the library. D) Postpone, or move to different date. The tickets are located here. [John Green] Please let me know if you plan on attending ASAP.
